PE Foam tapes must be one of the most generally recognisable double-sided tapes. They’re on a shelf somewhere at every hardware, homeware, arts & crafts and DIY shop. Most will know what it looks like when they fail too (that towel hook that hasn’t been there anymore for ages, but the remainder of the tape is still there on the wall or tiles). They come in endless variations in terms of adhesive systems, thickness, foam type, density and roll dimensions. Not to mention shapes, pads and spools. Some of these specifications have major consequence on performance but are hard to differentiate visually.

Our S-Mount Premium range of foam tapes have earned their name in the Sign makers trade. Signmakers rely heavily on double-sided tapes to mount signs and bond materials long term and in varying conditions. As a consequence, they tend to know their stuff when it comes to foam tapes. We can come up with great descriptions and specs for our tapes, but the real proof of course is at the business end, where the Premium range has earned a solid reputation.

Why Premium foam tapes?

High-shear: The adhesive is a permanent high-shear solvent based acrylic. This means it is formulated for weather resistance, stability under temperature fluctuations, stiffness (soft adhesives have a tendency to creep, or move over time under stress), UV resistance and durability. The small trade off to make here is that they do not feel very tacky.

High density foam carrier (96kg/m³)

When foam tapes do fail it is often the foam that splits, not the adhesive that fails. The answer is to use top quality high-density foam for high cohesion, internal strength, and as such less chance of internal split.

With 0.8mm thickness and a density of 96kg/m³ foam tears are virtually eliminated and a relatively high stiffness is maintained. With some but limited ability to overcome uneven surfaces. With full adhesive contact all these foam tapes will form a long-term weathertight bond that enhances over time.
