PE Foam tapes must be one of the most generally recognisable double-sided tapes. They’re on a shelf somewhere at every hardware, homeware, arts & crafts and DIY shop. Most will know what it looks like when they fail too (that bit of foam left on the wall). They come in endless variations in terms of adhesive systems, thickness, foam type, density and roll dimensions. Not to mention shapes, pads and spools.

Our S-Mount Premium range of foam tapes have earned their name, with genuine pedigree in the sign makers trade. Signmakers rely heavily on double-sided tapes to mount signs and bond materials long term and in varying conditions. As a consequence, they tend to know their stuff when it comes to foam tapes, and this is where the Premium range has earned a solid reputation.

Why Premium foam tapes?

High-shear: The adhesive is a permanent high-shear solvent based acrylic. This means it is formulated for weather resistance, stability under temperature fluctuations, stiffness (soft adhesives have a tendency to creep, or move over time under stress), UV resistance and durability. The small trade off to make here is that they do not feel very tacky.

High density foam carrier (50 - 96kg/m³)

Under excessive stress it is often the foam that splits before adhesive bond fails, the weakest link. Using top quality high-density foams means more internal strength, and as such less chance of internal split.

At the lower end of thickness, the density is higher. Starting with the 0.8mm which has a density of 96kg/m³. This means foam tears are virtually eliminated and a relatively high stiffness is maintained. Also, some but limited ability to overcome uneven surfaces. As the thickness increases, up to 3.0mm, densities are lower (down to 50 kg/m³). The foam at this point is thicker and softer. The advantage is that it will overcome greater variations in the gap or absorb movement between the two surfaces. With full adhesive contact all these foam tapes will form a long-term weathertight bond.
